i have been a fan of the tucker for many many years..... since i was a lil kid and my dad used to tell me about them... now that i am an adult and one that doesnt make 100 g a year.... i cant afford a real tucker.....i have wondered many times if any model manufacturers have been commissioned to make models of the cars for those of us that would like to have our own "tucker" if you know any one that knows anythign about them please let me know thank you

There are die cast models in 1:18 scale that are made, and occassionally, smaller ones appear. Johnny Lightning made a limited run of 1:64 scale Tucker keychains last year. Ebay, or the club's store are good places to look for them.

I was actually meaning a model like from revell...or monogram...1/24 th scale...I have been looking for those...that way I can build my own.But thank you for the respone.I have seen the die cast ones...have not heard much acclaim to them being to accurate...i.e. doors rubbing together as it closes hood not wanting to fit correctly either.Thats why I wanted to build my own.If you have any more info on where or if they were ever made please let me know thank you

I've never been able to find that kind of model, despite years of searching. If any were made, they must have been in incredibly small numbers, and haven't shown up on eBay.

As for the die casts, I've not noticed any of the problems you've described with the ones I have (though on some of them, the under belly isn't quite right).

Model Haus (http://www.modelhaus.com) makes a simple resin kit of the Tucker for $70.

Includes four door body with hood molded in, interior tub with separate bench seat, dash, steering wheel and column, front bumper, grille, rear bumper and grille, headlights, taillights, hubcaps, wheel backs, tires, chassis, glass. There is no engine. It's no Monogram or AMT in terms of detail, but it's close.

He used to make an interesting custom Tucker Sedan Delivery which I bought from him at a show years ago, but I don't think he has any of those anymore.

I'm currently building the Modelhaus kit, it's my first resin kit. I'm making it as a documented replica of car #2, which I saw and photographed at the ACD Museuam in 2003. It's well worth the money. In my quest for a picture of the interior is how I found this site. I took 8 pictures, and as soon as I can figure out this board's policy on picture posting, I will share them. And when I finish the car, I will share that too, I just need to do the interior.

This is what you get in the Modelhaus kit, it's a complete kit, and nothing is required to be purchased with it, unlike most resin conversions. It even includes the axles and tires!

Devlin, welcome to our TACA website! Maybe you'll consider becoming a TACA club member soon? It's a great club, with great folks, and we all celebrate a great man and his car.

In my opinion, the very best diecast Tucker model was made by Kyosho, and it's 1:18 scale, just like the Yat Ming/Road Legends/Fairfield Mint ones. But do a side-by-side comparison, and there's no contest. I have both kinds of these diecasts, and I put the Kyosho in a clear display case in plain view, and put the other in a box somewhere.

The detail in the Kyosho model is INCREDIBLE. Museum quality! The finish is flawless. If you can find one somewhere, examine it carefully and be stunned!

The only 1:24 scale model I know about is the aforementioned Modelhaus kit. I personally think some proportions are slightly off, but it's a good overall representation of the Tucker '48.

I've got 3 of the cheaper brand 1:18 scale models that i'd like to start working on converting to as close to the real cars as possible, overtime, possibly doing all 51, true to how they are today. this should make 1042 a snap. but try to bring out the various differances in each and proper colors. but this will most likely be over a course of years. i can get them for under $15 a piece on ebay, but that still needs to be spread out.

I do also have a nice 1:43 scale matchbox "barret-jackson"
a handful of johnny lightnings, both the nice original style paint scheme and their promos ("Clue", Coca-Cola, and holiday)
and at least 3 mico machines.

but i'd love to get that plastic model, in fact, several to build some customs.
